This is THE STUFF to listen to when you're pissed off. I recommend them as driving songs, preferably accompanied by a cigarette, and a willingness to swear very loud.

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams - Karma Killer (from The Ego Has Landed)
I first heard this song when I inadvertently (it was an accident!) saw a Robbie Williams concert on TV. I loved this song but had no idea of the name... I finally tracked it down in Borders and worked it out. Great boy-bitter song.

Best Line: "I hope you choke on your Bacardi and Coke..."

Counting Crows - Angels of the Silences (from Recovering the Satellites)
This angry little ditty is slipped in amongst a bunch of sadder tunes on this album. I like it because it's indignant angry, and like any good angry song, makes you feel your anger is justified.

Best Line: "Why'd you leave me 'til I'm only good for waiting for you?"
Counting Crows
Soundgarden Soundgarden - Big Dumb Sex (from Louder Than Love)
Alex from 680 got me into this one when I had just been dumped. I used to sit on his windowsill and smoke while he drank, listening to this over and over and hating everything. Good times, good times.

Best Line: "Hey, I know what to do, I'm gonna..."
Pitchshifter - Keep It Clean (from Deviant)
Heard this one by coincidence in the car when I was trying out a demo CD. It was the only track that stuck out, particularly because I knew Vantle would like it. She did, and started quoting it before she even heard the tune...

Best Line: "Just shut the fuck up! Just take it all away! Anything, just keep it clean..."
Pitchshifter
Kath Tait Kath Tait - Bastard (from Bastard)
Kath is a local folk singer who I met many years ago. Elle had her CD when we moved into 680, so we spent many a night round the kitchen table, eating custard and singing along with Kath. The boys thought we were weird.

Best Line: "Please Mr Bastard, can I have my heart back?"
Guns n' Roses - Get In The Ring (from Use Your Illusion II)
Steve and Nick introduced me to this one around the time of Elle's 21st in 2001. It's a great fighting song but not one I can play at work too often. Still, listening to it in the car is a great pleasure, especially when you're rabid.

Best Line: "And to all those opposed... well?"
Guns n' Roses
The Tenants The Tenants - You Shit Me To Tears (from You Shit Me To Tears)
When I was in Australia in 2001 for my grandmother's funeral, my cousin owned this CD. Upon arriving home I downloaded it (as you do) and found it pleasantly annoying and pleasantly Australian. Enuff said.

Best Line: "Just give me a break, for fuck's sake."
Kelis - Caught Out There (from Kaleidoscope)
This is traditional angry, but still good. It's nice and shouty an I appreciate that. I usually end up directing these songs at stupid boys, and this one is especially appropriate. Boys are silly and we are occasionally justified in hating them.

Best Line: "I hate you so much right now..."
Kelis
Offspring Offspring - Self Esteem (from Smash)
Second listing for this song, and a good accidental position on the list, because it's more rueful than the others. It's also pretty ironic and kind of funny, so it winds you down... honestly, I didn't plan things this way.

Best Line:
"The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care, right?"
They Might Be Giants - I Palindrome I (from Apollo 18)
Good song for the end of the list because it's pretty funny and wacky too. If you don't feel like laughing at yourself by the time you're up to this track, then you need to listen to the entire CD again young man!

Best Line:
"You son of a bitch, I palindrome I."
They Might Be Giants
